Beck’s Construction Team Expanded the Emergency Department and Campus Infrastructure for the Methodist Charlton Medical Center.

To address growing demand and enhance emergency care, Methodist Health System collaborated with Beck’s team to expand its trauma services with a new state-of-the-art emergency department at Methodist Charlton Medical Center—one of only two trauma centers south of downtown Dallas. This project reflects the system’s commitment to improving the lives of Texas residents through compassionate, quality healthcare.

The new ED is the focal point of the campus, with improved visibility and access from two main roads. It’s equipped with 64 exam rooms, 6 psychiatric exam rooms, 5 trauma/critical care rooms, 8 triage rooms, 2 radiology rooms, 1 CT room, a nurse’s station and flexible support areas, providing comprehensive care in a single streamlined facility. Additionally, Beck renovated existing interiors and added one level of underground parking for patient and staff convenience.

The construction team was brought on board early in the design process, a strategic move to plan and build a new remote central utility plant without disrupting hospital operations. This utility plant was a necessary addition to meet the increased demand for heating and cooling across the 37-acre campus. The project also includes upgraded emergency power infrastructure and shell space to support future growth. To further enhance the ED's capabilities, the helipad was relocated to improve patient transport and new parking facilities were added to accommodate increased traffic.

The expanded Emergency Department ensures that the Methodist Health System will continue delivering high-quality care and meeting the community’s evolving needs for decades to come.
